We woke at a leisurely pace this morning and make some international calls and did FaceTime.
Ate breakfast at the hotel and the river is right there, it runs north and south. We are right next to the Imperial Palace. Kyoto was the capital for over 11 centuries. http://www.gojapango.com/travel/kyoto_history.htm

Ate tempura and sushi lunch at the train station (again). We were at the post office for a 2:00 PM walking tour for 4 hours.
Buddhist temple
1,000 years old. Think of this here 1,000 years ago. Think of what was going on in the world 1,000 years ago.
Very famous Shinto Shrine. January 1st and 2nd, there will be about 2.6 million people here. Two days. To make wishes for the new year. Ten million is a year come here.
Very famous, you can see this in movies and advertising brochures
At the end of the tour, we ended up in the Geisha district and spotted two, they were in a hurry like the White Rabbit "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" They walk VERY fast and do not like to be photographed.

We found a restaurant in the Gion area and had dinner on 2F in another hole in the wall restaurant that had probably 8 tables, then took a taxi back to the hotel.
